I will post an image, and will ask some questions about it.
The first one to guess it all right will be the one to post a new image (and ask questions).
If after, let's say, 3 days, no one has yet guessed anything, I will give out a hint.

My questions:
What film is this from?
What are the names of these characters?

Public transport or owning your own car?

(pick one, answer, and don't forget to post your own this or that question too)

So, what Song are you listening to right now?
I'm listening to Tine Bealtaine, by Omnia

We'll write a story this way: each new post will contain no more or less than 3 words.
I will start the story with this:

Once there was...

What you do:
I will write one word below, and you post the first word that comes into your head after reading this word below.
Then someone posts a word, the first one that came into their head after reading the second word posted (and so on, and so on).
Here it is:

Added two new links (first post) in the 'info about story/background'section.

One of them links to a very good and very concise post about what happened in URU / the Cavern before this (the new URU Live).

Hmm, even though I'm not new, I'll post here, since it seems so empty and someone has to be the first, and maybe afterwards it'll get more popular! (ok ok, and I admit it, I'm desperate to post and to see new posts tongue)

So, hi, I'm Norah! (not really, but I'll be Norah here).
Errrm, so, I came from Seed which died, and then I saw everyone (or everyone that matters, almost) had moved here so here I am, to pester you all on the forums and the IRC chat!

And to proclaim the awesomeness of URU Live. Be sure to check out the myriad other posts I've already made on that subject tongue (I just can't leave it alone). (points at the sig which was made for her courtesy of Oluf)

Ok...If URU becomes the game you speak of then this seriously sounds like the next mmorpg for me big_smile
Personally I like the idea of IC skills (makes it more "game" like...if you know what i mean :S ) but its not a big deal for me.

(and if not you can slap me around for a bit. Heck, if not -I'll- slap me around. And Cyan. And Gametap)

As I have understood it the devs will be in charge of the different npcs as well? The basic gameplay is about going around and discovering more of D'ni, and there are 2 different factions with different views on how this should be done?

The devs and people in their employ. They played some chars themselves last time around but there were also hired actors.
Discovering more of D'ni, and rebuilding a society, yes. We come not only to discover but to restore...
For now we have two different factions, but you can always make more. Even last time the choice between just two things didn't sit well with a lot of people, there's always those that disagree with both (or, more rare, but it did happen, who agreed with both), or those that don't care for 'politics' at all.

I think in the last Live the actors were definately setting the stage for a huge conflict. One of them had already instigated and participated in a riot, and left nothing about his opinions to the imagination in his journal (you could sneak into his private rooms and read it). Another one had gone missing and was last seen falling off a building with the building subsequently collapsing on top of him. However, in the end the players just didn't bite. They decided they had no need for violence, and instead a huge faction arose that tried to make peace between both sides. The actor came and apologised (IC). And then Live ended. So we don't know how that would have turned out, negotiations and talks were still ongoing at the time.

because it deserves a topic of its own!

official site and forums: http://www.urulive.com/blog/

The story goes a little something like this: The time is now, the place is here (Earth, that is). In new Mexico, the ruined city of an unknown (to most) civilisation has been found (the D'ni civilisation). The official excavators are the DRC (D'ni Restoration Council), who will uncover and restore the city as they see fit. Then there's Yeesha, who'd like to see D'ni restored too, but has a rather different idea of how this should happen... Will you take the Journey?

The game: Like Seed, URU has no combat. Unlike Seed, it doesn't even have any kind of skill training and classes, which makes it even less like standard MMOs. Like Seed, URU will be heavy on background, storyline, and RP. Like in Seed, you will be able to influence this storyline, by your RP, and by the gameplay, which will consist for a large part of solving puzzles (This game is really an online adventure game, the first of its kind, yet it will also be an RPG). However, for those of you that flinched at the word 'puzzle', you won't HAVE to solve any puzzles unless you want to. Or you can do the puzzles with some friends. Or you can have said friends do the entire thing for you (you lazy shmuck).
Like in Seed, the gameplay will be tied to the RP, it will be intertwined. So it won't be like in so many MMOs, where the RP is but an afterthought, and where your RP will never matter to the gameworld and evolving storyline at all.
If, after trying it, the game won't be as described, hit me tongue.

Fallen Earth:

http://fallenearth.com/index.htm

Though it's not something anyone'll be playing anytime soon. Last I heard it's still at least 1.5 years from release, and beta hasn't even started.

From the former Tour-Guide of Atys:

http://img128.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=trykermaintk2.jpg

(Also included, a handy map of 'which-portal-goes-where')

I just want that world to be visible around me. Like Nosyd said, sometimes you want to do something all on your own, and in MMOs that gameworld is there for you to walk around in.

When it's just text, I just don't feel like 'playing' with other people. I feel like I'd rather just go and make my own world and characters and write, if it's just text and I'm going to have imagine the entire look of the world and all the people. The need for other people disappears for me then. And I do write and make my own stories, I like doing that too.

I can't populate the entire visual MMO world on my own, in MMOs I do like to interact with others and create RP with them. AND I can walk off on my own, and I can actually see my char in the world, climbing mountains, exploring hidden corners...
Maybe MMOs are more about being an onlooker for me, but I like this very much too. And since if it's text I don't feel a need for any other people besides me, I don't have to do this online either.

So online for me means with others, means a visual MMO... I guess.

Hmm, funny. I just really can't get into the text-based online RP. I've tried a few by now.
It seems that for online RP-ing, I really need the visual/graphics element.

Here's some of my good ones. I had a lot of mediocre - crappy ones too, but because they're what they are, I won't torture anyone by showing them.
