Topic: TAU Databases

There are many databases in the TAU network, used for a multitude of purposes. Some are public, while others are more or less confidential. Here I'll list some of the more important of the databases. In addition, many rings, projects and even colonists have databases of their own.

Re: TAU Databases

The Speedgrowth Database

Location: The Lower Cluster, Speedgrowth Chambers
Access: Public (from the Lower Cluster)
Provided by: TAU

The Speedgrowth Database is located at the Lower Cluster, and is currently unaccessible to the colonists in the Middle Cluster, except for their initial speedgrowth period. This database houses all of the information Solidarity brought with it from Earth, including technical, scientific, historical, and cultural information, as well as the instructions for the speedgrowth process. The database seems to be mostly operational, considering the high success rates of speed training.

Re: TAU Databases

The Mirror Database

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: TAU
(Damaged)

The Mirror of the Speedgrowth Database houses the same information as the Speedgrowh Database, but is located in the Middle Cluster for redundancy. Unfortunately, this database was seriously fragmented due to a power spike caused by the collision with the big rock. Rumor is that TSR is defragmenting the database in order to recover some of the information, but other than that it's practically useless.

Re: TAU Databases

The Backup of the Mirror Database

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: TAU

The Backup of the Mirror Database is yet another layer of redundancy. It doesn't, however, contain all the information the bigger databases contain. Instead it contains only the information deemed most crucial during an emergency, such as speedtraining data for techical and scientific exploits. This is the database currently used for speedtraining.

Re: TAU Databases

The Database of Scholarly Knowledge

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: The Association of Scholars

This database was created by The Initiative but later moved into the supervision of the Scholars. It's a collection of scientific information freely accessible. Anyone can add their research into the database, which consists of research reports, technical specifications etc, all written in formats rigidly standardized by the Scholars.

Re: TAU Databases

The Maintenance Job Database

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: Tower Engineering Society

The purpose of this database is to enhance the process of the maintenance work, to avoid problems caused by people not knowing what other people are doing or have done. The idea is that whenever you repair or change something, you file a report on the job in the organized archiving system.

Re: TAU Databases

The Colonist Database

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: TSR

This database contains personal profiles (with images included) about all the colonists in the Middle Cluster. Among other things, it contains information about their ring membership, position, and floatbed training. The same database also has the information about the rings themselves.

Re: TAU Databases

The Project Database

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: TSR

This database contains data on the various projects going on in the tower.

Re: TAU Databases

TAU Space Message Boards

Location: The Middle Cluster
Access: Public
Provided by: Da Vinci Collaboration

This database holds discussions about various topics ranging from everyday matters, such as bargain deals, to tower-shaking arguments about the fate of the colony.
