Topic: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

So, so far, we have 8 votes, all pretty much yes, though some depend on certain factors.

It's time to sort some things out: when, where, who and how many.
We can get into any further details after we sort out the following.

Answer these questions in a reply (poll alone isn't customisable enough):

Do you want to rent a cottage, or do you want to camp in the garden of Nuala's parents?
Are you coming alone, or bringing someone else(s)?
When are you available to go (next year, unless it becomes too complicated somehow)?
What other conditions determine whether or not you will be able to go?

I don't know how long everyone wants a Seed Meet to be, but renting cottages is often for a minimum of 1 week, sometimes 2 (but we'll just not take those cottages that have a 2-week minimum). Which doesn't necessarily mean you have to stay for the whole week, but it does mean you'll have to pay for it (literally tongue).

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

Ok, I'll just reply right away too.

I'd prefer to rent a cottage.

I'd be coming with my partner, or not at all (so 2 or none, but I think this'll be the least of my problems: I have plenty of time to warm him up to the idea).

I'm available all year, except 24 April-8 May, when I'll be on holiday with my parents and such. HOWEVER, I'd prefer not to go during high summer (July, August), since the cottage will be 3 times as expensive (which might actually make me unable to come at all, depending on the price ) I have a very hard time with hot weather, am insect-phobic (especially wasps), and dislike the tourist season: more people everywhere.

The other conditions: how much money I will have left, if I can convince my partner to come, the price of the cottage, whether or not it falls at the same time as my family holiday, whether or not we can borrow the car a second time in a year.

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

I prefer a cottage slightly because I don't know where that tent actually is and if it actually still is a working tent. But would go with both options.

One person only.

As posted, high summer (July/August) is difficult and I probably can't make it during this time. Am no a friend of hot weather and wasps as well anyway. Any time else works for me.

Anything up to 2 weeks should be fine. Money is hard to predict, should work but less costs would make things easier.

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

Cottage works fine with me but camping is okay just the same.

Probably with my girlfriend, otherwise alone.

Any time works for me, May/June/July would mean that I come alone. Otherwise my time will be randomly reserved for project deadlines and paper submission deadlines in which I have limited control.

Something close to 1 week would suit me best, otherwise I'm flexible.

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

Well, I'm in for both cottage and camp, and since the majority is positive about a cottage, so am I smile I'll be coming alone, and I can come at any time.. probably, and one week is fine for me. Seems, preliminarily, like it would be a good idea to have the meetings in the second half of June then, in regards to your preferences, and I'm also in for that.

So far, based on replies, early or halfway through May would be better, considering cottage prices. 15-20 May is usually when they start becoming more expensive.

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

Well sorry to say it... I can go, but not during spring...

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

So as far as I can see, Frakel can't attend before second half of June, Quanto Solo can't during July, while everybody else can attend May and June. In the interests of getting as many as possible to come, I'm totally in for a slightly higher cottage price. What about Miho, Oluf, Kryigerofe and Nuala, how do these dates suit you? Still lacking a reply smile

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

May/June is undoable for me...examns and stuff... so I wouldnt be able to go before July sad

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

All in all the second half of June might be best. If someone can do a count and tell me for how many people the cottage would be, I will start checking out what is available. Depending on the price I might drop out, but will still arrange it for the rest.

This is also the time to start thinking of the deposit that will need to be made in advance: save up some money and soon.

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

Well for me it's not entire months but there are a lot of weekends with mahjong-tourneys

If it ends up being during the spring there is no way I can make it during easter or the weekend before that.

I'll be in France anyway on the 23.-25. of April so around there might be good.

During the last half of June sounds fine by me.

I really need to know how many will be wanting to stay at a cottage, because it really should be booked soon. I can factor myself+BF in or out when I know what size cottage I'll be looking at. Help out the dyscalculic a bit here tongue

You all have until next Tuesday to give a final final answer to state who is coming and with how many tongue.
(it's ok to do this via IRC if you want)

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

I'm coming. Alone. At any time.

Seems to me Dustman, Miho, Frakel, Quanto Solo and Nuala are able to attend second half of June. Miho with his gf, and Nuala maybe not staying in the cottage. Kryigerofe might show up as well, but he can't commit to paying anything at this time. Oluf thinks he has exams during late June, so he can't come. However, I'm not sure he has wink But anyway, that makes. Darkhawk, Dustman, Miho x2, Quanto and Frakel for 'sure', i.e. 6. With Norah+bf and Nuala as maybe's, and Oluf/Kryigerofe as more maybe's. Right?

And don't take my word for it, the people in question need to answer wink

Re: Seed Meeting in France - Getting down to details

Yes they do, or they'll be automatically excluded from the cottage at least, can't risk everyone having to pay extra if they weren't really really certain.
