I'll take two, thank you. And make it as soon as possible.
Maybe something like theseedring.org or seedthering.org?
And is it necessarily in the .org domain?
Yes. Right now it is like "Still in floatbed"->"Chimbot"->"?"->"Arash". What I am talking about is an option to choose another set of ranks for every user. For example, the (current) Seed ranks, a set of Ryzom ranks ("Refugee"->"Homin"->"Apprentice"->) and so on.
Speaking of ranks, is it possible to make several ladders? Only saw it in one forum, but it's a pretty fun feature :]

.My small scouting run in Fairhaven discovered a bar. It's not too pretty, but it's better than nothing for now.
Make a vote for the domain? I like seedthecommunity.org and savetheroleplay.org.
Another note has appeared, in the same handwriting:
"The Creative Crafters need Good Materials for making their Useful Items. Nice Reward or Grateful Praise promised to the Generous Providers. Everyone is invited to make their own Little Lists of Needed Things.
Wheri:
Abhaya wood
Ocyx shell
Ocyx ligaments
Dung resin
Irin oil
Dante sap
Cray secretion"
No PvP for me but an occasional IC fight and wrestlin' with cuz.
For me, a game starts to become interesting when it gets some world-specific, odd humour. Like the time in Seed when Bre thought that we're going to "give someone stuff to kill another Seedling with a long spear at night". As you can guess, we just called someone a freelancer and started trying to remember why freelancers are called that. And tried to remember how Medieval was called during that.
AO... doesn't sound very interesting. And I'm not really into cyberpunk. Is there any crafting/peaceful character type of play? I'm tired of killing things since Ragnarok.
((This is an in-character thread: all out-of character talk should be written in double parenthesis.))
Someone set a simple board near the campfire where Homins have made a habit to gather. Being nothing more than a pole with a flat piece of wood attached to it and dug into the ground, with the word "BULLETIN" carved on top.
A single note is attached. On it, in rough handwriting, can be read:
"Farewell party! In 2 days time, Perun will be leaving for the mainland! We will be holding a farewell party for him, as well as anyone who decides to accompany him. Everyone invited!
Also, if you are going to leave, we recommend you to take as many Homins of your race as possible with you, so the road is safer, less boring and your first time in your capital easier.
It is probable that Wheri and Tinai will be leaving as well - Trykers invited to an interesting journey!"
((It will be held at Thursday, 12 October, at 20:00 CEST, at the fireplace))
There are some game mechanics elements that must be roleplayed, because they're used pretty often and should be shared between Homins. An example of these elements would be hitpoints ("I'm hit!"), stamina ("Gotta catch my breath!"), focus ("My eyes are tired") and sap ("I must use 30 drops of sap on my spell, and I have only 25 left!").
Another pretty important thing is material source modes. Those define how a material source behaves when being extracted. When there's only one Homin working on it, it's not a problem. But if there's an extractor and a careplanner, the later must be informed of what mode the source has, and only the extractor can see it. As an added difficulty, the mode can change during extraction. Thus, we must devise a way to quickly let the partner know the mode number, in character. How do we do it? I can offer 3 options:
1. Go with mode numbers. I. e. "It's the 1st type! Keep it safe!". Maybe the Homins learnt this way of naming things from the Karavan, or came to it themselves (They're pretty advanced, from what I read)
2. Think of names for every of the modes. "It's a faller! Don't let it collapse!". The problem would be the names, of course. And not making them cheesy.
3. Do not call modes, using just the "Keep it stable", "Keep it safe" and "Safe 'n' steady" shouts to designate what types of care are needed. The problem is a possibility of mis-interpretation.
By the way, I think the abovementioned HP, stamina, focus and sap are worth of a discussion themselves, as well as measures of in-game time and distance (Homins seem to use a metric system. Did the Karavan bring it?).
Let's say, not necessarily a magician: prospectors too use a method of attuning to Atys to find the materials they seek and bring them to the surface, so this way of communication is quite open to them too.
Also, from now on I will roleplay a slight empathy in Wheri, pretty limited ("The beast is scared! Don't kill it!", "It's in pain!"), but enough to explain his pacifism and unwilling to kill things. Maybe someone should adopt it too?
>>All i can say is that when i played the harvester tutorials i was bored... (well, except for the one time where i got a senior guide to roleplay a bit with me!)
The first 4 tutorials are boring, you're right. But when you get to steal some loot from the bandits, or poison the goo - it gets interesting. And if you want real bore - try the crafter quests.
95% of what Victoria just said's right.
The job of a harvester is not only about finding and collecting stuff, but also about hiding and running, somehow resembling the old good Thief. And if you're sure the area you're going to is dangerous, grab a boduguard, go in a team.
And a crafter is a lot like a merchant, not only making stuff, but selling it for a lot of dappers, and buying his materials cheap. And of course making some deals just to raise dapper along the way. See a set of armor being sold for half the price it's supposed to? Get that other half!
>>Is there anyone who wants to talk OOC in /around /tell /guild /team channels without using (( )) for ooc talking?
I can live with that.
>>In answer to Wheri: Hmm... well, the issue here is limitation to a degree. If everyone just had telepathic abilities, there would be little use in talking at all.
I didn't mean exactly that. First, not telepathic abilities, but empathic. No direct thought-sending or reading. Everyone is somehow attuned to Atys, the sap and other Homins. With these Homins, you can share your emotions. Telepathy (As in thought-sending) means the Homin is attuned to Atys all too well, and is probably a great magician or will one day become one. Types of empathy, as I said before, vary from Homin to Homin, and are always your decision.
I can keep describing this, but I think I'll just confuse you more.

If you don't want to grind, try playing a harvester or a crafter. Finding materials and combining them into items is pretty interesting (For me, at least), and it does not require actual "grinding". As I said, you are always making yourself useful, at least getting some dappers from your actions.
I, too, dislike fighting - supporting fighters with heals is Ok though. I suppose I have the lowest fighting/magical skills in the whole gang.
No crafting competition for me. Every race can only make their own items, differentiating from other races' items only in appearance. For example, I'm a Tryker, but I don't really like how the Tryker light armor looks, so I'll most likely look for a Matis crafter when I need a set.
As for other professions, we tend to grind them in groups, so the gap shouldn't be really that big. Even if it is, we're tolerant. And we can keep someone around for roleplaying, not the high damage rolls.
I didn't notice much grinding in Ryzom so far. Basically, when you're crafting, you're constantly trying to test new combinations of components for your items. And getting dappers by selling the armor you make. As a harvester, you just keep the materials coming, look for new spots and keep track of the old ones, as well as using what you get to get some dappers by selling them directly or by crafting with them. Either way, you're being useful, at least to yourself, not just "killing 999 more monsters to get 1 point of strength to get a +3 bonus to damage when it reaches 57 (Currently 54)".
I used to play Pyxon, ze tiny one.
Don't like the idea of hard skill dependancy. Looks like we have to grind talking! :) Maybe someone can play it from this, but I don't think it's a good idea.
OH MY GOD! ERIC'S DAD IS ROLEPLAYING!
Playing siblings's not hard to roleplay, but gives a lot of interesting options. Overall, a good way to get started. And it's fun to see casuals asking you "What? You're a brother and sister IRL?".
