Oh right, that was my next question!
Next weekend I am boardgaming and cannot attend. the 11th, as I think I stated previously. And I'm in one of Frakel's RP story event thingies the 8th, so I can't play there either.
Anyway, let's talk about other days to play perhaps?
Yeah I did the mobile phone thing too. And before that the harddisk thing. And so many other things were I thought 'ptaah!', but then when I tried it grew more or less fond of it. Not that Facebook is on par with the utility of a harddisk
Uh, that depends on their stats.. Can we see their stats?
A tentative for I'd say.
Try and find me!
I think I'd really like the space part of SWG
I knew Pikachu had some base desires
I can play next saturday, but I'll have it noted it's not optimal for me.
And then, here's some advance warning from me:
9-11th November - I arrange a boardgaming weekend at my work. Frakel and Miho will show up too.
23-26th November - I'm in Bristol.
Correct!
This is by the way the most known/reproduced picture ever. And last tuesday it was 40 years since he was killed.
Alright, here's the third clue picture. If you can't guess it with this, I'll post a written clue tomorrow, and the last magnified pic in two days. Then you should really be able to get it right. But I like your guesses, hehe.
Wow, that was an even more creative suggestion Miho. I'm impressed. But no, it's not Rorschach, that repulsive LN psycho
Ok, yes.. It's not easy. Marilyn Mansion is.. Uh.. Wrong, but creative thinking there. Anyway, with this one, it's so 'easy' that I could guess it myself at least. But that depends a lot on who you are I think.
Ok, people keep complaining about old games and them not being very old and all. So here's something completely different. I've taken an image, cut out part of it and enlargened it. Your task is to guess which famous person it depicts.
I'll add more data to the picture as we go, but I'll be VERY impressed if someone guesses it with only this one:
I try again..
Fantasy General. I even have it installed on my DOSBox.
Just a very lose and quick guess... Mount and Blade?
And here's another. Poetic justice I'd say
Yeah, Nuala is such a sweet girl
I just got a tip.. When you look at the picture from further away it becomes somewhat easy to see.. Damn ;D
I knew it! Nuala is a male!
Here's an annoying link just to pave the way for Norah to post again:
So, I'm back online, and I think we're missing a 'funny links' thread. You know, over the course of one day spent chatting on the networks, you receive and give out a lot of links to funny, quirky or crazy stuff. Much of it we share on the IRC, but I think a thread where people can just paste a link now and then when they have something funny could be cool.
So, I'll start..

And this one is Nuala's, but I'll just post it anyway:

Your turn!

Edited because Nuala gave me the WRONG link! I mean.. Really!
To the question, I can answer quite briefly: No
Ok
And now less briefly: If impact is defined as something that will keep a majority of people playing and interested in the game, the answer is no, I think. Some people, particularly people like us, roleplayers, but also others, will like it to varying degrees, but the commercial success of a game seems to have no connection to whether there is ingame events or not. It is not on top of most players wish lists, nor are there that many participating in the few events that are held.
Also, events are a strange thing to handle to everyone's satisfcation. Are they IC only, RP'ed out? Then everyone but the few RP'ers will find them strange, and most will avoid them. If they are general, OOC events, then more people might find them cozy, and they will attract a bit more attention, but their point will be kinda' lost, the RP'ers would revolt, and in any case I don't believe they would have an impact.
But, not to be all doom and gloom, I'm just trying to look rationally at the question. Of course I'd like RP ingame events, the more the merrier, in all MMO's, but realistically, they won't matter in the big scope of things, i.e. commercially. They might however heighten the reputation of the game in the RP community, and draw more RP'ers. SoR had such a reputation once, and even non-RP'ers listed the ingame events as a good aspect of the game.
And events are a bit 'in the middle', in that the game itself should provide the content/events, or on the other hand, the game should be completely RP, like Seed was, not just with 'events' thrown in here and there to liven up the desert. Still, events are a plus in my book. That just won't net any company much money I'm afraid, though it will heighten the quality of the game as I see it. The general mass of gamers wouldn't care though.
My, I'm Mr. negative today And it wasn't meant quite like that, just giving my 'objective' view about what kind of impact events would have. They can add colour, but for the non-RP'ers they're irrelevant and for the RP'ers they're not enough. Tough place to be in ;D
Heh, don't know the game, and don't know Sunsoft.. We were thinking about Psygnosis and DMA Design. I guessed it was NES, and so I googled for 'NES platformers', but I didn't find any that looked like this. Oh well.
Good to hear Congratulations on your moving then.
