Oh yeah, Wheri, I'm not sure if it's 70 people, or 70% world population, because I've seen World 1 reach 132 on a stress test, and I doubt it would take only 132 people to do that to an MMORPG server.

It's very, very much a Diablo fix. I first played it with my brother for nearly 11 hours, by the end of it we felt like we'd conquered so many epic battles (we charge ahead like idiots a lot of the time), that we needed to watch a horrible fantasy movie like Conan to calm down.

I'm going to be reinstalling the Play NC launcher to try to get back to version 1.0.8 instead of the trial 1.0.14 so I can try out the new 0.53 quests, so lookout for Lindstodt on World 2 sometime, probably this weekend. If anyone else wants in, the game is quite good for whittling some hours away, is pretty funny, and the community is surprisingly low on assholes. Just send me an e-mail and I'll send you an invite.

Needless to say, I am very disappointed. I started gaming when I bought my PS2, and somehow I'm the only one who knows the obscure JRPG? For shame. big_smile

Anyways, I finished Golden Sun tonight, so I feel like bringing another old RPG set to an end. Here are the answers, and bow down before the cliches.

1. The game is Breath of Fire 2. It was released December 1995 for the Super NES by Capcom Co., LTD.

2. Someone should beat the developers for this joke, but I'm in the Flying TownShip, a fairy village that the game lets you develop and populate to get special items, or in this case a means of flying transportation after a certain event in the plotline.

3. The ship is being powered by your adoptive father who disappeared years ago in an attack, and who you save from the clutches of a boss in the depths of a cathedral. He offers his body as a means to power the flight of your town, and is able to do so thanks to the magic of a mysterious naga sorceress named Deis/Bleu, a secret character you can find by stumbling into her desert home, and is the most powerful spellcaster available.

4. I am flying above Giant Island.

5. This doesn't really take much deduction does it. The island itself is fairly small.

6. If I remember correctly, the two characters residing in the cabin are Bo and Karn from Breath of Fire. One is a wolfman, and the other one is a... thing.

7. BoF2, and the original BoF1 at around the same time, were re-released for the the Game Boy Advance in 2002. The picture was taken from my DS, as my GBA's screen died long ago. The picture is actually my second playthrough of the game, the first being on a ZNES emulator years before the re-release. The first time through took 80 hours to complete, I believe the timer on my GBA save file says 37 hours. Hell of a game.

And I'm exhausted, so I'll just pass the image posting rights on to Darkhawk, since he's the only person who tried to guess.

Alright, this needs to get moving. Let's see some other guesses, just throw them out there people.

The main character of this game has the stereotypical blue hero hair, and turns into a dragon.

Okay, I think I owe three or so hints on this.

1. The company is well known for its undead games. (*COUGH*PARASOL*COUGH*)
2. The infamous Paul Anderson made those undead games into a pair of movies, the third one is coming out soon (Seriously, if you don't get this...)
3. If/when the name of this game is discovered, most of the questions can be answered by looking at an FAQ for it at GameFAQs.

Right, got wrapped up in Golden Sun, forgot to post a hint.

The series consists of two SNES games, two PS1 games, and one on the PS2. None of the games are sequels to each other except for nearly identical gameplay (not counting the PS2 game, that went off on in a completely different direction).

Ding ding ding! WRONG.

1. It's an old-school Japanese RPG for sure, but it isn't Final Fantasy.
2. Not a castle, a bit smaller
3. You wouldn't forget this.
4. Not if you know where it is, because it's completely out of the way and doesn't involve the story in any way.
5. Same thing as 4.
6. See above.
7. Man, you didn't even try to answer this.

Please try again. The company that made it is still alive and kicking. It isn't Squenix, and it isn't Konami, so try another Japanese company.

Oh dammit. I was actually going to just let Frakel do it since I've never even seen Ghost in the Shell.

I do have an idea though, so let's go ahead.

If you can get all these, you know your stuff.

1. What am I playing?
2. What am I flying?
3. What is powering its flight?
4. What am I flying above?
5. What is the island known for being populated with?
6. Which two characters are in the house on the island?

4 & 5 are basically identical questions. Anyways, since I doubt most will be able to get anywhere with just my screenshot, it is arguably the RPGiest of RPGs, and all started on the SNES.

On that note, 7. What am I actually playing it on?

Good luck!

Wikipedia! DO YOU USE IT?!

The logo looks that way because it was designed after a short story by J.D. Salinger called The Laughing Man which focuses on a minor league baseball team. Thus, the baseball cap.

Wheri, just give me an e-mail address to send you the invite. I got DR back up with some tech support help, they're using BITS to download patches and updates and it conflicts with firewalls even if you give the launchers process access.

As soon as I actually get it running again and stuff big_smile They released patch 0.51 and I haven't been able to get the update. (Of course every computer I don't regularly have access to has been able to get it successfully)

And as a complete opposite to Felgund's post, I've started playing Dungeon Runners. a game devoid of any RP, using an MMORPG.com key giveaway. It's great fun if you enjoyed Diablo 2, as it largely mimics Diablo's gameplay, and features a massive dungeon for people to play through (lots of phat loot too). One of the great points of the game is its humour, because it manages to be funny without necessarily detracting from the feeling of playing a hack-and-slash (An ice mountain area populated with Ice Orok Protesters, who are demonstrating to inform the kingdom about warming in the area. Also lead by an Orok named Algor). The grouping system also happens to be the best I've ever played with, and nearly any special thing like resetting your dungeon instances or finding a group to play with just takes a right click on your character name/health bar.

The game is only available by referral from a current player because it's still technically an incomplete build (only 0.49, not all quests are implemented and art for armors/weapons is still being added), but I can help anyone who wants in. It's also completely free unless you want to pay the $5.99 membership fee which gets you access to stackable health and mana potions, a bank for extra inventory in town, and access to the upper tiers of armor and weapons.

Time for this thread to be resurrected.

Schoolyard Heroes is excellent stuff.

Seems like NWN2 is a bit of a waste of time. Either way, if this project DOES get revived, SketchUp is supposedly able to extract models in a format than 3DS Max can use, so they can be used to create custom structures with relative ease.

Xenu returning to release all of the body thetans. Everyone run for cover!

Actually I'm willing to bet that it's a cabbage root or something like it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you want to see an evil backlog, try reading all of Sluggy Freelance. Ten years of archives, and some of the most convoluted plot lines ever created. Have fun wink

I'd actually bet on Zero being his rival, just because he's in that picture. But I've never played any of the games, so who knows.

(659 replies, posted in Steambaths)

I know the second character, but that's not because I'm familiar with the MMX series in any way; I know him because I used to read sprite comics. In any case, I still have no idea who Boba Fett is, so don't go thinking everyone has played a Megaman game.

From a quick wiki search I'd assume the game is MMX7, but that's about all I can find on the subject.

(659 replies, posted in Steambaths)

Wheri, I think you may have found something incredibly obscure and paid attention to it for so long that you're one of the few people who know what it is. I have no idea, and I've never even seen anything remotely like that character outside of Boba Fett.

73

(659 replies, posted in Steambaths)

I have absolutely no idea. It looks like a slightly recoloured Boba Fett with a shoulder-mounted Howitzer or something.

Maybe try giving us a hint as to where it's from?

I'd care but... NIN has never impressed me tongue

If you really want something to get excited about, you should look for the new Ted Leo and the Pharmacists album out sometime in Smarch. Top of my buy list now.

Brazilian Girls' Talk to la Bomb album

Because I finally found a torrent for it! Even if I had to deal with a crappy German torrent site, I finally got it! Months of searching has paid off, and I can now enjoy the album, looking back on the thousands of porno torrents that searching for a band named 'Brazilian Girls' will turn up. Maybe I should've just gotten the porn.

Edit: I also heard some of the new Arcade Fire today. Am I the only person who wants to see them try playing something happy instead of the sweeping post rock?
