After making the post Darkhawk sent me to the thread in the forums on it. I'm using the pictures to make more of the world in sprite form, but sharepoints are bloody annoying.

I need some decent front and back pictures of female Da Vincians from Seed. I have some large shots with the female models in them, but I need something more up close. If anyone can post/send me some it'd be appreciated.

Well, I'm in Ontario, so I should be around about the same times you are Skye. Just speak up and I'll probably respond within an hour. I tend to wander away from the computer a lot. tongue

Seriously, Sterling =/= Chick.

Other than that though, looks pretty good. You should get on the IRC channel by the way. That's where it's at.

3rd, 4th AND 5th Edit:

1. I'll probably do a five or so frame walking animation for each direction, and I might possibly do eight directions depending on how the game uses the sprites. In the PSD files I have of the sprite I've made I had all of the clothing on different layers (as well as the hair) so they could be switched out quickly, but I have no idea if it's going to be as simple in the game. Reason I did that was if people wanted to switch their appearance around like we used to in Seed, but if there's no support then I'll make more generic looking sprites.

2. Those icons remind me of an old Win32 game I used to have, so I'm going to update them a bit for the heck of it. And, I mean no offense, cause it might just be me, but the more I look at it the more the sharepoint looks like a blue gandalf.

Again, not a chick:

Sir, I am MASSIVELY offended by your implication that this character is a woman. Albeit I messed up his dreads, but thats because I didn't leave enough room. tongue

Anyways, I'll get right on the four directions once I wake up today/tomorrow, should be easy. For a while I was worried you were going to ask the spriter to do eight, which would've been a bit of a pain.

Prepare for a very small image intensive post (which sounds really weird)

Started by making a small male model

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/NMaleSeedFrontScopy.png

Next was the medium, then the large

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/NMaleSeedFrontMcopy.png

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/NMaleSeedFrontLcopy.png

And now I started editing the Large model by clothing it in a dark grey workersuit

Pants! (Miho is excepted from these)

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/WPantsMaleSeedFrontLcopy.png

And the shirt

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/WShirtMaleSeedFrontLcopy.png

And all together now!

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/WFullMaleSeedFrontLcopy.png

And now for hair (wonder who Im making...)

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/coarsesand/SortOfSterlingcopy.png

Not amazing, but I didn't really spend that much time on it. The torso is probably just a little bit too long, and the large model doesn't give much space for hair, but I think they're okay. Tell me if you want to see more, or if I just completely messed up and you wanted something that filled the entire space (cartman as a da vincian?).

I tried to do a 32x32 sprite, and I think I'd almost rather shoot myself in the head. tongue It gets really frustrating trying to make a person in 1024 pixels.

Edit: I'm going to give it another whirl with my tablet later.

Ehem. I've said this to Ahnion, and I'm quite serious. I WILL NEVER put monsters into a city sewer. It's a dumb scenario and it's been overused. Monsters somewhere in the city? Sure. But they'll fit thematically with the place instead of being a cop-out to put a dungeon in.

It's just that this thread was intended for organized setting submissions, not more discussion about the PW's minutiae.

Greenland is in no way part of the "Americas". And what if we get somebody from South America on the forums? They're not in the poll.

Playing a medieval alt-history doesn't mean there has to be gender inequality, especially when it would ruin the game for a large part of the group. The concept is just f-ing stupid when you try to put it into a multiplayer game, and we can justify gender equality any number of ways with the story. Instead of discussing it into oblivion, I think we need to get back to what the build team really needs and that's setting. If you do want to keep discussing it though, you could create a new thread, but that's really not what this one was supposed to be about, and we've wound up really far off-topic.

I'm offended by the continent "America". North America and South America are actually seperate thanks to the Panama canal, and just saying America makes people think of the USA. Canada exists too! ...and Mexico I guess.

[death]Call out for PW Dev Team[/death]

So, I've already volunteered to work on the NWN2 world, as has Ahnion, but we're looking for more people to throw their hats in on this and help. So... get off your butts and volunteer! big_smile

If you feel like you'd be really interested in developing the PW, just reply to this thread so we have an idea of how many people are avalable.

There in lies the second problem: 3DS is in version 9. My crappy bookstores (including the one online) sell books with tutorials up to version 3. Kinda stupid... and redundant at this point.

If we don't go with a standard setting it maybe would be easiest if we use some kind of 'build-up' scenario, for example the cliche one would be the sail-, space-, other ship or maybe plane crash somewhere in the nowhere, either using mostly standard landscape, plant and wildlife models with only few own models at start or a Seed like scenario with a very limited full custom area and both expanding as we play along.

This sounds incredibly interesting to me for a few reasons, but those reasons hinge on my being able to get a copy of 3DS MAX and a tutorial for it. Even if that isn't possible, the scenario sounds promising and serves as a nice homage to Seed.

Whenever I get over to my friend's place to test his copy of NWN2 on this thing, I'll let you know. Also, Autodesk can go **** themselves, I am not paying $3459 for a 3D Studio Max license.

Edit: By thing, I mean laptop with crappy GPU.

Woe is me with my stupid laptop's graphics card. Can anyone tell me if they included Fey'ri in NWN2? My favorite FR race!

Edit: I may just be able to squeak by playing NWN2 on this computer. the Xpress 200M card I have is equivalent to a Radeon X300, which is just slightly above the Radeon 9800 they list as being required to play. Woohoo, low settings!

Hey, it's been a bit since I last posted, but I think I should throw in my two cents because I was one of the people suggesting NWN2.

I am not going to be purchasing NWN2 for a while, mostly because it would destroy my laptop's pathetic Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card. Either way though, I'd love to get involved in planning and building the PW. Unfortunately I have next to no experience modelling besides some basic work a while ago in Valve's Hammer editor, but I'm probably going to pick up a book on 3D Studio Max sometime this week, because it's something I'm rather interested in.

Anyways, as to the setting. I'd love to see an alternate medieval style world, not one based on actual history, but with the same flavour of medieval times (think of something like The Witcher, but a bit less dark). I'd absolutely be up for an sci-fi settings people could think of, but other than that I'd like to stay away from D&D style settings. Fantasy's just seen way too much now. And Elves.

P.S. A number of people seem to be avoiding NWN2 for the moment, either due to graphics cards or processing speed, so it might be a better idea to set up something in the original NWN (which I already own all of the expansions for big_smile)

I've pretty much given up on SoR now. I just can't motivate myself to play, since I wind up grinding more than anything. As such, I'm throwing my vote in for NWN or NWN2. It's fantasy, but the fact that it's not fee based, we can make our own world, and having done a social server many times before I know how good it can be RP wise.

Anyways, I think I'm going to drop out of SoR officially for now. I don't enjoy it and don't ever plan on paying for it.

Considering some MMOs, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if retarded cut outs were playing.

I'm using the around option for all IC speech, any of the others are for random OOC things that just need to said because I can't use IRC for it (I have to run SoR full screen or my motherboard screams at me).
