Well, if my pet peeve (CHAIRS) is going to be addressed, I'm even more definitely in!

If thay make that, I'm definitely going to give EVE a try.
Do skills really matter that much when you're roleplaying?

Well, not too surprisingly for an invitation-only game with 70 players online :)

Well, I had some minor computer breakdown that resulted in the loss of several passwords (Oh noes, I lost my IdleRPG chars!). It's all (mostly) fixed now, and I've started playing DR. And yes, it's funny and it mimics the first Diablo quite closely.

And it has a good community with a sense of humour.

Heh, I only have one log from Ryzom. Not much of screenshot cropped - just Wheri, a pistol and a staircase.

Scouting different MMOG communities, I've noticed several stereotypes concerning roleplay. Namely,
"Roleplaying is limited to towns",
"You can't roleplay anything interesting"
"You can't roleplay much without GM's support" and
"Trying to roleplay seriously limits your efficiency".

I think we have to create an archive of screenshots and/or stories to try to break those. Most of the stuff we did in Ryzom and Seed would suit that goal. Any interesting events from other MMOG's are great, too.

(I'll post some of my screenshots in the next post. Too bad I don't make them often enough)

Why don't I try it, since I've made it my hobby exploring as many MMOG's as possible?

Hmmm... maybe that's a spinning top?

Back to the subject of cheating the system: it's asking me for a credit card, with country choice limited to USA and Canada. Obviously, I don't have an American or Canadan card smile

Unless it's some kind of a mushroom, we need a hint :]

Ok, the basic proxy helped. The game's downloading. I'll take the week-end to start playing it and (hopefully) buy the subscription. In the meantime, could you help me with a couple of links to the gameworld description?

I saw a good rant in one of the Russian MMOG forums, the main thought of which was "If someone tells me that at low level I'm not playing, but just doing something that's necessary to actually start playing... I'll quit". I'll definitely look for it and save it. Probably translate it for you smile

Yeah, nice to see ya too. Not that I really left, I'm just not very active.

Good. So, I should either let someone register for me, or learn using proxies. Guess I'll try the latter.
While I'm at it, could you tell me about the game? Is it going interesting? Has much of the community moved there? Yeah, I know, I'm missing a lot of what's going on in IRC.

I've finally decided to try out URU, but it's not "available" here in Russia. Is there a way to somehow cheat the system or is it just, as we here say, "not the fate" for me to play it?

An interesting rant. Guess that's what we all are thinking.

Mehken is right. In fact, I'd accept both X and Zero as his rivals, as they're essantially oppose him together. Your turn :)

Here is the full screenshot as it was taken. Now at least the series should be easily identifyable.

No, it's not incredibly obscure. As I said, it's in fact a well-known series. Almost everyone knows the name and can easily recognize the main character. The one on the picture is a minor character that made several appearances throughout the series, but had a bigger role in one of the last installments.
I think I can post the answer if no-one guesses tomorrow.

The series are quite famous, actually. I'm absolutely sure they were published in English. You'd know what it is if I named the hero :) Two hints:
1. The hero's name is often confused with the name of the series.
2. The very first installment of the series was published back in 1987, and it's still going on.

And yes. He does look like Boba Fett with a shoulder-mounted howitzer.

Ok, another one:
Both worked in the same organization at some point.
If it still isn't obvious, I'll post a third hint tomorrow.

Both are not human.
I'll get you another hint tomorrow.

I think this one is pretty easy, but no-one I asked could answer yet.

What is this character's name and what is he?
Also, who is his main rival?

Achieve a manned landing on the Moon before your opponent does, if I recall correctly
