I feel that way with Bioshock myself Hatetank. And well, all other games that aren't more sandboxey. I think especially FPS'es have great potential for being immersive/sandbox-like experiences where you wander through a complete world. And then genres can merge. Adventure, roleplaying, even strategy (the old game Dune, not Dune II, had all these things except shooting ). Boiling Point (a terribly buggy game, but still) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are like that, but they lack better/stronger storytelling perhaps.

Hrm right, I can't be present that day. Boozing obligations with my highschool friends, then dinner with my family. So unless we're playing during the evening/night, it's a no-go for me.

Hehe, yes, it belongs in the Floatbed Dreams forum, but our nice webmistress will probably move it there.

Anyway, chimbots. small, agile and flexible repair and maintenance bots remote controlled by TAU to fix things, move things, weld things, build things and so on. Basically the worker drones of the tower flexible enough to scale walls, move through hatches and so on. TAU used these to build the tower and to maintain it, but in the latter stages when things started going wrong, many chimbots stood idle or didn't do what they should. They're not independent of TAU, they're all like worker ants were TAU was the queen ant.

In one RP event we took control of a chimbot chassis, reverseengineered it and constructed a sturdier chimbot that we could remotecontrol, then sent it down to the lower levels to discover if people were still alive down there. Was great RP and lots of people participated in building its systems. Resulted in a lot of blueprints. Another thing I should have saved.. Oh well.

Ah, and in related news, soon we'll get all the datamining texts online here. Lots of short (and not so short!) stories about life and history in the tower. Will be a treat for those who haven't read them

Hello and welcome to the Seed commuinity Emine

I guess you've seen our own Seed RP setting (Seed the Second Chance) amongst the subforums here? We also miss Seed a lot, and so started an alternative text-only RP based on it. Maybe you can find some inspiration there.

Also, in the 'Data Fragments', there's a lot of stuff as you probably noticed, including the Seed repository (which is currently moving, dunno if Rookiedoo has set it up yet), that has most of what we have managed to save, although a lot, especially stories and articles made in the Seed setting is not there (yet).

Anyway, I know exactly what you mean, Seed was fantastic, almost a life-changing experience, certainly the best MMOG I've played, real roleplaying and all. Sooner or later something that is somewhat alike might pop up, and maybe someone will manage to get the IP released. Best thing might be to just cherish what was though, as it won't be exactly like that again. The IP is currently resting with the investors of Runestone, who lost their money when it crashed. It might be gathering dust, but I still think they'll want a sizeable sum for it. To my knowledge, no one has really inquired (and told us about it).
