Right, that's great news. I'm in the beta too since the first Stress test and I have to say I like the game, but it would be way more fun with RPers around. As I saw, there are some real nice features that encourages RP.

One of them is the Generation system, which let's players to set their generation and then adopt other players as their son or daughter. Then, those binded will have a title that can be shown. This way, clans can be built which gives many possibilities to RP.

Another nice thing is the Bio, which let's you to write anything you want, describing features of your character that the game can't show. Those close-by can "Inspect" you, and see the items that are visible, and look at your bio and titles.

On character generation, there are many options and a nice variety of face features and hair, eye, and skin colour, there is an option where you can put scars or freckles on your face.

We all know that a stupid name can break the immersion very fast, I saw names like "Awsa" and "Santaclaws", so to help the players to come up with names that fit with your character, there are naming conventions for each race, giving several examples and listing _a lot_ name beginnings and endings, so you can think of a nice name.

Another thing I quite liked is the quest system. I didn't played with WoW, but I played with AO. So I know that it's stupid that you have an arrow pointing in the direction of the next objective of your quest. In LOTRO, there isn't any arrow, you can see the important quest locations on your radar, but not on your map, so you _have to_ read the quest descriptions and sometimes only the history of the dialog can tell some important detail. Oh, yeah, and there are times when even that can't really help smile All in all, even with the big amount of "kill x of Y" quests, there are others that are really fun, I won't spoil it for you, but I can tell you, I could go for hours without fighting but doing fun quests.

Hmm... I guess I could go on for some time but I'll let others tell their opinion now.

As far as I saw, LOTRO has some really nice features that encourages RP and it's not just a "generic" fantasy setting, it's [death]Middle Earth[/death]! Also, not the last thing, that AD will be the GMs, including some of our beloved GMs from Seed. The requirements may be a bit high, but it can give an immerse environment in return.

Anyway, if there is a game which many of us gives a try, count me in!

Well, I could make some art stuff too if you ask me (having access to Qube engine and Seed's database). I always wanted the research and TAU interface having advenced features, for example hacking, searching for infobits, breaking into other seeds notes, datas, lockers and finally their interface (for example you could see where they are and what they do/think while you are connected to the TAU node.

Other thing would be lockers. We had these locker rooms, but never had lockers for rings and/or seeds. That would be fine, of course with regulations on the number and weight of stuff you can carry or store.

Also, it would be nice, if you could deposit your materials in SPs/deposits, so that TAU manages the quantities of your materials and it transfers them to the factories when you build something. (and of course this database and the factories could be hacked of course wink )

Hmm... I had quite some stuff here, I hope you'll like some of them.

I did say on IRC that I'd be interested. I'm not sure that you counted me or not.
In any case I think Kryigerof's idea about a Seed-tower with thousands of colonists would be great, no need to specify them all, just to try the feeling how it would be to have the tower crowded.

Heya there!

I just wanted to point out some of the little bugs on the forums, nothing big, so no worries, the site is great, cheers to all contributing cool

So, first, Sekra's birthday is somewhat bugged, I tried to edit it (didn't work), delete it (that worked) than recreate it (not working again :shock:). So, please, have a look at it, also there is 2  1. nov. , which is good for Ahnion, but not good, considering the current calendar-settings wink

Edit: also, it would be wise to change the color of the "Online/Offline" tag in the profile to something readible (like blue or red *hints* tongue)

Okay, this is just a quick sitrep about SMAC multiplayer.
After long fights and terrible failures... oh right, it wasn't that long. Anyway, thanks to Darkhawk, we found this little program called Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc) that creates a semi-LAN over the internet, so SMAC clients can see each other. The program is very easy to use and it guides you through  the procedure of joining a network.

The important part is:
We managed to start a game and play, so if the time comes, the only thing you must do is:
a, Have SMAC and Alien Crossfire expansion
b, Patch Alien Crossfire to version 2.0 (if it's not patched already)
b+, If you have problems running the game, download and install the XP patch from here: http://www.firaxis.com/games/game_detai … showcon=2#
c, Download and install Hamachi
d, Join our network (name and password later)
e, Start up terranx.exe and choose Internet TCP/IP and you are /waytogo cool

Oh, and the game has Play-by-mail option too (I didn't know that), so if we can't find time to play together, we can play this way, though I don't know how can we RP that way but we will figure it out. wink

So, here the answer to the how, the remaining is the who and the when smile
