I had imagined a site for roleplayers, but still a place where we can remember the good old days back in seed. With that I mean that anyone/everyone would of couse be welcome here but lets not throw out the whole "seed community" idea...if that makes sences!

For the content i had also thought of different kinds of guides such as those you suggest dark. Not that I would know how to write them at all wink
I had also thought that we might have a section where we keep track of any interresting new games.

I also believe that we will need a basic set of guidelines (instead of "rules") not only for how we interact while IC and in-game but also the standard behaviour guidelines for a forum.

oh i always wanted to play Nobilis but never had the chance!

Anyway...its a good idea but I think i will have to pass. I am not sure I would find that kind of roleplaying interresting enough :\

Lets be honest here... people where mostly talking bad about seed becuase it had bugs (and lag! big_smile )at release... not becuase of what beta was like.
At least that is my impression! smile

well as i have already said i want to help out as well... Someone has to make sure you dont make a lot of bad decisions! big_smile

As i have already said... write up some more specifics and i will say if i agree or not tongue

norah honestly i think most gamers who might have an interrest in URU are cleaver enough not to judge the game based on old beta bugs...

imo its a bad way to do buisness and there is no reason for enforcing the NDA as strictly as they are doing. I become very negative towards the company when they are as strict about this as they are...
The original reason for making NDAs are to protect the IP of the game, not to control peoples thought of the game

i know, their game their choice.... but that doesnt mean i should agree with their choice big_smile

One thing thats pretty strange about URU is how seriously they take the NDA...
I dont get it...imo its a really bad way to do buisness.

During the early stage of dev i can understand the need for a very strict NDA but not this close to release...

should i be accepted and should i be able to login i would go by the name of Oluf... !

well...it will depend completely on the setting.

Write up something specific and i will say if i disagree or not tongue

I think it wont be that hard to attract some people who can help us out IF we show what we can do ourselves. Of couse they wont turn up and start to make this great PM world for us if we dont have anything to show at all... but if we put some work into it ourselves i dont think it will be a problem actually.

/me nods

i have been thinking about something like that as well. I think it would be an interresting way to do it

I agree that a kind of "small" setting which we can expand upon would be a good idea...again lets start small but dont limit ourselves big_smile

nwn2 does indeed give xp based on combat.... but depending on the amount of players and GMs we got we should also consider giving xp for quests (gm made - right there...on the spot to help a story along or to simply help the RP along) and maybe even for roleplaying.
ie - 5 people thinks that person X has made some really good rp and should be awareded some xp...so the gms considers it and might award him some extra xp

I also agree on the whole "magic is lost" thingy... might even go so far as to say that it might be interresting to roleplay(/play some quests) to get to become a magic user in the first place

Considering that we dont have to get this world up and running within a week or two i think it would be better if we think about what a fun setting would be instead of what is currently in the toolset.
We already have some talented individuals who wants to help and with time we might be able to attract a few more... as darkhawk said we dont have to get this up and running right away...better to do it slow but good imo big_smile

I disagree about the game-play versus storyline bit, though. I don't think they have to be opposed.

You are right - they dont have to be opposed, but currently they are.

The main problem is that gameplay is often in the focus of a dev team simply becuase it is (in my opinion) more easy to make interresting gameplay then createing an interresting story. Not to mention the fact that the idea of even creating a interresting story *in* a computer game (or mmo) is kind of new. The art of creating stories has been around for quite some time compared to the art of creating computer games. Of couse this doesnt mean that we should simply accept the fact that story and gameplay doesnt mix at the time, but it means that it is understandable that we dont see many games with this kind of interaction yet

i voted for nwn2 or nothing.....only based on the fact that i dont own a legal copy of nwn1 wink

I am all for gm'ing as well... i guess most of us here is big_smile

very unique.... wish more games would try something new and fresh in the gfx department (not to speak of gameplay...)

heh..didnt notice this...just saw a link to it on irc and went to post at the runestone forums...oh well!

anyway, yeah its a pretty good interview!

just a small note for you kryig - I dont have 2.4 ghz either, i am running the game on a p4 1.8 ghz...of couse many of the settings are very low and my computer doesnt seem to like it when i go "inside" (ie in buildings etc) as it can lag a bit there.... but nothing that keeps me from playing the game.

heh..compared to the eberron setting FR rules!! The biggest mistake DDO made was going with the new setting instead of using FR imo...

As for the topic at hand:
I dont mind FR, i quite like it actually. However..it has been done sooo many times already and no doubt a lot of perma worlds with similar setting will pop up with time. We might as well go for something different in my opinion.
As for what - I dont really know. Sci-fi would be great but it may be to difficult for us.
An alternate world *can* be good.... but it requires a good setting and has been said before someone who we all apoint as the "leader" tongue

ps. i took a look at the toolset yesterday and was quite impressed...cant wait to test it out some more, but i feel like completing the campaign first so it may take a while smile

I looked at it while it was patching and it took at least 2.5 gbs.
A very strange way to patch!

oh well...off to play some more computer. Its so nice having a game that is worth playing smile

oh yeah Icronfist is quite something smile
In a way not a very original char concept but he is still fun and interresting imo!

I have tried all 4 types of cameras and i still get crazy heh...guess i will have to experiment a bit more!

edit: Just thought i would let everyone know about this. I have found a way to get the patch the work. It seems that the game needs a lot of diskspace to apply to patch so make sure that the drive where nwn2 is installed on got around 7-8 gb space otherwise there is a high chance you will get an error.

taking a semi-break (ie restarting the game becuase i changed some options) so figured i would write a bit more about what i think of it so far smile

I havent gotten very far in the game yet, i am the type of person who likes to turn over every little rock there is! The good things i have noticed so far:
1) The storyline seems decent, might be a bit easy to figure out where its heading...but it might take an unexpected turn later on!
2) lots of classes and races
3) the grapichs are really good...if your comp can handle it!! (mine cant...)
4) voice acting in many places! In some ways and places this reminds me of KOTOR...which is good!

bad things i have noticed so far:
1) the camera is very very strange - after around 4-5 hours of gameplay i still havent gotten usede to it...
2) When i tried to patch the game to 1.01 the update failed...i guess this will most likely soon be resolved.
