Topic: the Story

It's starting up again the 20th, in the URU Live open beta.
But on the 19th, there will be special events, as well as a chat with the DRC, on the D'mala Until URU shard, to round up the old story, and start off the new one.

After this, D'mala will cease to be the Story shard, where things are canon, and where the RP is (if any). URU Live will then take over, and once again be where the action is.

I'll start being IC again in URU Live starting the 20th. I won't be on D'mala for the event on the 19th, because I've got a birthday to attend that day.

Re: the Story

Some mysterious things happened at the meeting with the DRC in the City today:

((Some videos etc of the event can be found on the URU Live official forums, but there's the chat text on those too, and some of it is OOC))

Re: the Story

The mysterious Cate is finally known.
And she's been appearing in the Cavern a lot, stirring things up, being short with people, and secretive big_smile.

Re: the Story

(The new episodic format is working well for this game, I like it. Now we just need to make the story a bit more interactive, so you don't just watch it happen but participate more. I think the next episode will help with that a lot)

((May 19th to May 26th. Scars))
Odd things have been happening in the cavern. Earthquakes shook Ae'Gura, and a huge crack appeared in the wall of the already not very stable-looking pub, located at the little platform that divides the Great Stair into two parts.

The DRC immediately closed off the pub (of course) and issued a warning. However, a day later, Willow (Wheely) Engberg, the daughter of DRC-member Michael Engberg, and her friend Rosette went missing. Their KI signals could not be found. Wheely had informed her father that she and Rose were going to check out a crack that they found in the lower levels of the Library. This was later found out to be a lie. She had spun this story as a distraction so that she and her friend could sneak over the pub barriers and check out the crack there. After they finally got back the signal of Wheely's KI, it turned out that they had fallen through the crack, into a mysterious cave with glowing Bahro symbols on the walls.

Wheely reported that Rose was badly injured, possibly dead. She was said to have tried to touch one of the glowing symbols. The DRC quickly started a rescue operation, digging down and clearing rubble. Engberg spent time talking to his daughter whenever he could. She reported seeing glowing eyes in the small cave with her. From her descriptions, it looks like a Bahro was in the cave with her, watching her. It also made noises sometimes.

Wheely was getting very thirsty. Some people advised her to draw the Bahro symbol for 'water', hoping that they would bring her water to drink. Then they lost the signal of her KI again. When it came back, she reported feeling a lot better. The Bahro had apparently taken care of her.
Wheely reported that she could now hear the sound of the rescue operation digging, coming closer. For some reason, this seemed to upset the Bahro that was present. It began making agitated and loud noises, which Wheely said sounded like words. She thought it was screaming 'Noloben' at her. (Noloben is an Age that is briefly mentioned here and there, on Sharper's desk in the City for instance. The DRC apparently met a surviving D'ni there.)

By this time the DRC had almost reached her, and Michael Engberg was lowered down on a rope to go get her. At that moment, tragedy struck. Something happened, a bahro apparently got very aggressive and angry, and Michael was screaming for his daughter. The DRC hauled him up again immediately and lowered down a ResEng instead. This man reported that a creature had violently murdered Wheely Engberg. Whether it is the same Bahro that had been in the cave with her all this time and had brought her water, is not known, though it is generally assumed that it was a different Bahro, especially after another disturbing event took place.

Douglas Sharper had his own ideas about these happenings, and connected them to the violent deaths of the animals in the Pod Ages, most notably Negilahn. He linked back to the Pod world, and decided to track one of its animals to see if he could get a look at the predator, and confirm his suspicions. He found something alright. A creature attacked and beheaded the animal he had been following, and had taken the head. Sharper went after the trail. What he found was mind-blowing. Bahro had been responsible for the violent deaths of the animals. He walked right into the middle of what seems to be a Bahro war. Bahro came after him just as he was going to link to his Relto, and he thought he would go the same way as Wheely Engberg, but two other Bahro jumped in front of him and saved him from that fate. He linked out safely, though severely shaken, and immediately came to the Cavern to relay his findings.

Michael Engberg spent a long time grieving at the memorial site that was set up for Wheely and Rose. The gap in the pub was fileld in, and wreaths of flowers placed at the site by many people. After that, he disappeared. His signal was last seen in the Great Shaft, and everyone has been asked to keep a lookout for him.

Despite all this tragedy, and the apparent new threat to all explorers and possibly even all life, in the Cavern and the Ages, the DRC decided to go ahead with the release of the Age Minkata. They are also not abandoning the restoration. Their old safety first attitude, and overly cautious behaviour, seems to have transformed into a fighter's mentality. They will not abandon their project, nor have they asked any explorers to leave. They have issued warnings, and informed people of the risks, but a sense of community has grown that there never was before. Everyone is determined to get to the bottom of it all.
